Diverter leaking

I have a leak coming from the shower/bathtub. I have a single shower fixture, the one that you tun to the left to turn on to cold and eventually turns into hotter. The diverter for the show is right below this handler and does not function anymore. The shower constantly stays on when you turn on the water.

Since this happened, I know have a leak that has leaked into the kitchen ceiling. blah blah blah

Long story short...how do I change this fixture without having to take down the shower tub fixture? When taking the cover off the fixture it looks like the fixture is soldered onto 4 pipes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

showerhelp, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
The diverter is probably soldered into the main shower/tub supply valve. Replacing it will mean removing it. If the area is tiled, I hope you have a closet on the back side that you can cut through to access it. You will have to get to it to fix the leak. Sorry I can't give you better news. Good luck.
