Bathroom sink is back filling?
My problem is this....my childrens bathroom sink is back filling with water. We cut the water off underneath the sink, and a friend came over to see if he could figure out the problem. He went into the attic and said where the air conditioner drain pipe and the "pea trap" for the bathroom, it was clogged. He used a device, I thinka snake thing to clean it out. It was black rubbery stuff that came out. Well, that was 5 months ago, have not had the problem again until tonight. The friend moved and we dont know why this keeps happening. Is it the pea trap that is clogged? It seems that the water comes into the sink more when the air conditioner is on. It is driving us nuts...what can we do if anything prior to have a large plumbing bill?
Any suggestions would be great appreciated!
Thanks

I would suggest having the a/c condensate repiped. If you could run it out the soffit next to a downspout and down to the ground you wouldn't even see it. Where does the secondary drain from the emergency drain pan for the a/c drain to ?

Now AC water coming down the vent pipe from the attic could back up into your kids sink IF the clog is past the place where sink drain hooks into the pipe going down.
IT is past the place where the sink drain hooks into the pipe. Anyway I can get this unglogged without the expense of a plumber coming out? Thanks for any suggestions!

Yes...your clog is somewhere from the sink and below. And you already stated your friend snaked it out in the past successfully, so you will have to do it again. Or...
Plain old plunging alone won't work, eh? Have you tried? To plunge a bathroom sink you have to obviously fill it with some water. But first, take out the pop-up stopper. After you do, be sure to screw back in the pop up rod, for now, so water doesn't come gushing out below your sink! Then fill the sink partially and plunge while you also put your thumb/finger(s) over the overflow hole(s) in the sink.
