Shower question

Want to add a shower head to a bathtub. I have removed all the tile surrounding the tub I see there is an attachment where I can add a 4'-5' piece of copper pipe. I'm dealing with regular sheetrock. (I should take that out and put greenboard in?) After I install the pipe high enough for a "Shower head" I get stuck on what piece I need to come out to attach to the "New" shower head.

Any suggestions, and or am I even on the right track?

Thank you

When you decide how high you want the showerhead, sweat a "butterfly or winged" elbow on the end of the pipe. Make sure you have a support board to mount it to. This elbow has two wings with holes for screws to hold it securely. It also has female threads that the shower arm screws into. Good luck.

It's the wall thickness. M is thin walled L is medium thickness. Either is permitted for house plumbing in most areas. good luck.
