hot water in shower

I recently shocked my well and since then the Hot water in my shower on the second floor has stopped working. It's a 3 month old Moen "temperature balancing" shower appliance. I was thinking maybe somehow we have an air lock in the lines, but I was also thinking maybe some crud got into the moen and did "something" to it or it's special features......I've opened the wall back up buthate like heck to have t take the show unit out again.....is there some way to isolate what is exactly wrong here (we have hot water everywhere else in the house and the cold water on this appliance works fine.....I'm getting tired of baths in the downstairs bathtub and I think my plumber is on vacation.......

thanks in advance for any insight

I think you have answered your own question. You probably have trash in the Moen valve, so you will need to disassemble it. You can also call Moen, they have an 800 number for tech support.

I had the same problem with my Moen Shower. The balancing spool is stuck. This is an easy fix. This is accessable though the cover plate. Look at the diagram online take it out and clean it, screw it back in, the spool should rotate easily around, if its no good they will send you a new one for free.

Please don't take this wrong, but be sure to turn the water off to the house before you pull the cartridge. Sometimes we take for granted certain things, and releasing that cartridge with the water on will wake you up.

Thanks for your replies, I am trying to figure out which model I have and then try removing the valve....it looks like a fairly simple design....I'll let you know what I discover....

thanks folks, I removed the valve (anyone guess where the retaining fell?).......turned water back on, discovered hot and cold is working fine at the fixture. Turned my attention to the valve (with a Moen tech on the phone), took it apart cleaned reassembled and reinstalled (with a "Magiver'd" retaining clip in place, Moen shipping new one)...seems there was a chance that the grease in the valve may have played a role and the shocking of the well may have introduced "crud"

thanks for your advice
