Yesterday I replaced the cartridge in the bathroom sink and the tub. The sink was hard to turn on and off and the tub had a slow drip, both are single handle types. The sink is working great now and I thought the tub had finally quit dripping...wrong! At first it wasn't, and then I cleaned the tub and took the hand held shower down to rinse the tub out, after that I then had another slow drip out of the tub faucet. GRRRR! So I have tried reading a few threads and was wondering if I should of greased the cartridge with silicone before I put it back in? Also another thing that drives me nuts is when you turn the shower on the water is coming out of both the shower AND the faucet, this doesn't seem normal to me, is it? And if it is anyway to make it so that the water comes out of either the shower or faucet and not both? Thanks for the help.

A few days ago, while the shower head was functioning (perfectly fine), the lever that divert the water to the tub filler was pressed down. Since then, it is impossible to lift the diverter so the shower head may function. The lever of the diverter will not stay in position allowing the water to exit through the shower head. The faucet is American Standard and it is a 2 valves shower and tub filler faucet. Any ideas on how to repair this thing would be helpful… oh and one more thing, I am a beginner at home improvement… it’s my first home! Thanks.
