Shower prob. Leaking from start of hose. Rubber tube?

I would be so grateful if someone could assist me with the following problem with my shower.

There is water leaking from a transparent small tube that seems to lead alongside the water that travels into the hose. Therefore there is water escaping at the point near the start of the hose lead.

The transparent tube doesnt seem to go anywhere. It does not fit into the hose. It seems to be excess water.

I am not very DIY minded. Please help!

Barry

Barry: Welcome to the club. Mine is doing the same thing, and it is due to age. The rubber tube has developed a leak, and there is no repair. I have put off buying another shower head by taping the connection with waterproof tape, but my time is due, as is yours. Just go shopping and get a good one.

but....

when i detach the hose lead it is fine. th ewater is coming from a small plastic tube that winds through and comes out near the bottom of the shower unit itself. are u saying that I would need to replace the whole shower (hose and actual unit. or can the little tube be replaced or fixed in any way.) half the water is going through hose. half through the small transparent tube.

???????????
Please help

Let's make sure we are in the same pew and hymnbook. Are you talking about a shower head on a hose, like a waterpik, etc.? The hose connects at the shower outlet on the wall above your head, and terminates in a shower head that is detachable?

thanks larry for replyin once more.

i will try to explain.
i have taken the face of the shower unit off so i can see all the elecricals and stuff within. contained within is a thin rubber tube about half a sm in diameter. when i turn the shower on, water comes from this as will as through the soild plastic tube that leads inro the bendy shower hose.

i am not sure what the reason for this small tube is. it just leads to the bottom of the inside of the unit in a type of S shape.

Are you located in the US? From what you are describing, this is a backflow tube to allow the water in your shower riser to vacate. It is most likely a vent for your diverter. If it is leaking at the bottom, you may be able to cut it off and reinstall it. Not familiar how this works, however.
