replacing fixtures
We currently have Price Pfister fixtures (8" widespread faucets, roman tub, and shower).
I'd like to replace the fixtures with Moen products. My question is do I need to worry about changing out the valve (ie in the shower behind the fixture)? Or are these things universal.
Thanks,
Gerry

I'm not exactly certain what you are asking but if you want to change from Price to Moen you will have to replace the entire fixture including all portions within walls etc.You cannot replace various parts of one brand's faucets with another brand's parts.
The exception would be repair parts manufactured by one company to fit another company's fixtures but I don't think that's what you are trying to do.

Thanks for your response. Our goal is to replace the fixtures that came with our house with something a bit nicer, and a different finsih.
I was most concerned with our tile shower. I wanted to change the fixture (the trim) without changing the valve in the wall. I'm afraid I would have to demo some tile to change the valve in the wall.
If I read you correctly, the valves behind the handle are not universal and would have to be changed as well.

Every brand and even many models within a brand are different.
