Top of Tub Drain Won't Unscrew!
The upper-most piece of the tub drain (that is exposed) will not unscrew!
To be more clear on which part I referring to: this is the top of the drain that you apply plumber's putty to and screw down.
I usually put a needle-nosed pliers down into the drain and twist hard and that usually does it. This time, the metal cross in the middle of the drain just flat out broke apart when I started twisting.
Are there any tricks to getting this unscrewed? Or possibly a tool? I read that someone torched the pipes but I can't as this tub is a plastic of some sort. I'm at a loss.
Thanks in advance! -Tony

There's a tool called a tub drain extractor or wrench. They are available in our warehouse at www.hardwareandtools.com

I solved the problem.
I took a chance and drilled a hole in the flange part and then took a wood chisel to it.
It started to split but it did spin it enough to remove it!
Thanks for the replies!
