Marks made by toilet snake

Any idea on how to get rid of marks left by a toilet snake after having relieved clog from toilet?

I had this same problem this morning. I snaked my toilet with a metal snake and was surprised to see the metal marked up the surface as it spun around. I tried a SOS pad but it did nothing. I searched the net and read to try CLR. We had a bottle in the basement and it worked great. I just poured a couple of cups of the CLR in the water in the bottom of bowl and in about 10 minutes the stains were completely gone and I flushed to clear the bowl. Worked very well.

If the CLR works, great. For the future, there is a snake spefically designed for toilets that has a sleeve on it to protect the bowl.

Even toilet augers sometimes leave marks. If CLR doesn't do it another possibility is a pumice stone bar called "pumie" I think.Ace stores carry them and they will remove these types of marks if a surface cleaner will not.

I keep a piece of rubber tubing with my snake, to shield it. The tube is just a bit of old washing machine gut.
