tub faucet handle

I'm trying to fix a leaky faucet in my tub. The faucets are probably 50 years old. I can remove the cap that covers the screw by unscrewing it out of the handle. I can also remove the screw. However, I can not remove the handle. It does not pull off. What should I do?

That is why I own a real good faucet handle puller.

Sometimes you can get under one and rock up on it with a "wonder bar" carpentry/roofer's tool. But often, if they have not been removed in years, they can be practically so glued in place that you wonder even if the puller is going to pull the handle before the puller breaks. I've had some so tough that they pulled the puller threads right through the crimped nut of the puller. I wasted a few sets of pullers until I wised up and got the good kind that has no nut.
