The Hub is about to install a new bathroom in the basement. I hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question, but while growing up my dad built our house himself and when he hooked up the toilet he accidentally hooked the hot water supply to one of the toilets in the house. The result was that the toilet was always warm. The thing is..... it was great. Sitting down on the toilet ....the seat was always warm, especialy in the cold winters. It never smelled or anything, in fact it may have been cleaner then our other toilet in the house. We never had any problems with it that I can recall. So my question is.....is there any reason why this should not be done????

Now seriously folks
Besides the cost of unecessarily heating the water the valve inside the toilet was not made for hot water and could be damaged.
If you have central heating it is often a good idea to have supplemental heat in the bathroom.
