Trying to remove old shower ball/nut

I bought a new shower head for my apartment i just moved into and after i had removed the old shower head there was this ball connected to the pipe coming out of the wall, so i tried to remove the old ball connected to the pipe so i could connect the new shower head were it was but the old ball looks like it was glued or some type of cement was used to put it on to stop leaks and i cant remove the ball now, is there any tricks or and suggestion on how i could remove this ball.

Thanks, Greg

Greg: you will probably have to unscrew the entire pipe from the wall and replace it with a straight threaded pipe. Use teflon tape on the threads when you put it back into the wall and when you install the shower head to prevent leaks in the threads.

No, the chrome pipe onto which the ball is attached unscrews from a fitting in the wall. Have you tried removing it, yet?
