Toilet Overfills

My 2nd floor toilet overfills. The refill tube keeps running for ~8 seconds after the water level reaches the top of the overflow tube. Thankfully, the overflow tube does its job, but I'm thinking there should be an easy fix for this. Any thoughts?

Hi eb23282, welcome to the DoItYourself.com forums

You need to check the refill valve or the float. Easy way to fix it depends on what the problem is. If you have the ballcock refill valve you can adjust the water level by bending the float arm. You basically want the water level to be below the overflow pipe. There should be a water level mark on the overflow pipe.

Also, check the float to make sure there's no water in it. If there is, replace it.
