Toilet Double Flushes

I replaced my toilet flapper and now, when I flush the toilet, the bowl empties, and then as it is filling up, it flushes again. I have adjusted the height of the flapper, but it still seems to happen no matter if I make the chain longer or shorter.

I have an American Standard 3038, low flow toilet (1.6?) and I used the recommended flapper, a Fluidmaster.

Any suggestions?

If the toilet you replaced the flapper in is a low volume flush style and you installed a standard toilet style flapper in it, then yes you will get a double flush every time. Resolve this by lowering the water level in the tank or buy a 1.6 gallon flush flapper.
