how can I reduce water flow in the shower

Please tell me this is a stupid question or I am half asleep, but I can't believe I can't find this. It should be cheap and simple ...

Can someone help me find something I can insert into or before a shower head to reduce how much water is coming through? I really like the shower head that is there so don't want to replace it, but want less water. Our pressure is too low for a PRV but too high for my wallet.

I tried "flow reducer". Two separate people from the big box store had no idea what I was talking about. Google finds lots of articles saying I should get one, but not where I can find it. The search feature at the shopping side of this site doesn't find anything relevant.
