Question Caulking keeps cracking around new flexible acrylic tub

I have newly constructed bathroom with tiled in tub deck. I purchased a drop-in acrylic bathtub (Oceania Unity 32 soaking tub, not airbath)-- a self-rimmed type tub. This is the first acrylic tub I have ever bought. My plumbing contractor has installed it 3 times according to the instructions that were supplied with the tub, and which are available on the Oceania website. He used silicone caulking as instructed. Each time, the seal has opened. MY QUESTION: what is the trick for installing a flexible acrylic self-rimming tub so that it does not flex and move and break the seal of the caulking?

Welcome to the forums!

You might try caulking it after the tub is full of water.

What mark said. Fill the tub with water, and recaulk after removing the old caulk. Let the caulk set up as long as is practical, preferably 24 hrs. That should hold up better. The weight of the water stretches the tub to its' limits, so once the caulk sets it should be able to flex to that point without peeling loose.
