Stuck disposal

Returned to condo after 6 months to find the disposal stuck. Moderate twisting with the wrench doesn't budge it; motor hums, shuts off, repeats after reset. I have installed a disposal once before, so I can put in a new one--but once I have the old one off, can I get it unstuck any easier and save the expense? Or is there a trick I haven't tried to get it unstuck? Many thanks.

On some of them you can use a socket wrench with an extension if there is a bolt in the center of the disposal down inside. You can get more torque on it that way.
