Squeaky Toilet Seat (new)
Hi,
I recently installed a new toilet seat. It is wood with an enamel coat. I am sure the hinges are plastic.
when I bagan to use it it was a little stiff, raising and lowering. So I sparayed with WD-40. Now it squeaks very loudly.
Tried lubing with 3-in1, didnt work.
Tried lubing with vaseline didnt work.
Tried rinsing the hinges didnt work.
I also canoot get the hinges appart, they seem like a interlocked deal.
Thinking of trying baby powder or silicone lube. Any ideas???

Hi Possibly when you tightened the toilet seat down you put the hinge in a slight bind. Loosen the nuts a little and see if the squek goes away if it does retighten the nuts but don't let the bolt turn.

got the hinges apart. Jammed petroleum jelly into the end pieces. put back together. I suppose if lube could have been delivered to those spots i wouldn't have had to do that. but all is well...
