New Vanity in new basement - pipe issues! HELP!

Putting in a new vanity in a newly finsihed basement. Builder roughed in the plumbing. The pipe that the trap should connect to had a 2" threaded cover with a square nut on the outside. All the piping for p traps is 1 1/4 or 1-1/2.

The only thing I could think of is just add pieces until I can get it reduced to the 1-1/2 pipe. Is that right?

I still don't get how all of these pipes connect some without any threads.....are these plastic gaskets supposed to be compression fit type connections???

Thanks for the help!

The 2" exit pipe into the wall is correct. You will find a nut to match it along with 1 1/2 or 1 1/4" gasket into which your waste arm will fit. From there your ptrap assembly will attach to the waste arm. Post back if this didn't clear it up.
