Warped toilet flange

I'm wondering how level / flat the toilet flange needs to be. While investigating a leaking toilet I discovered that the toilet bolts must have been over tightened as the flange (where the bolts are located) are warped upwards. After screwing the flange down with 2 inch # 12 screws I have managed to reduce the warp to about 3/16 inch each side (again just where the bolts are located). The remainder of the flange is flat to the wooden subfloor.

Will the wax seal seat properly with this amount of warp? Will I have to worry about leaks as a result of the warp? To replace the flange will be a major job.

Thanks,
Joshua

A thick wax seal should have no problem sealing the imperfection. There are thin(standard) and thick seals, consider the thick one. I am assuming that the flange is flush or above the finished floor level???

Thanks for that. Yes, the top of the flange will be level with the finished floor - which is the way the builder installed it (Although I question whether or not that was the right way to have done it. I thought the bottom of the flange should rest on the finished floor, but the builder screwed the flange to the 5/8 inch subfloor and then laid 5/16 inch Ulay on the subfloor and then around the flange)

Two wax seals (double wax). Take no risks. You may end up with a 300# guest and seal gets broken and there goes the flooring. Make sure there is no rock or seal will get broken.
