repairing symmons hydapipe '64' shower
I am trying to repair a leaky shower head. I can not find hot and cold shut off valve after I remove the shower handle. It look like following picture http://www.plumbingsupply.com/images...em-1941131.jpg

Is the leak coming from the shower head piping or the shower head itself?
If it is just the piping, you should be able to tackle that without shutting anything off other than the shower valve. If you are trying to get into the valve to replace the cartridge assembly, you will need to shut off the main water to the home unless you find some other valves to do the job. Then you should be able to get at the valve parts needed right from the front.
Worst case scenario would be to need to remove the shower head, tub spout, and face plate, then remove the large vertical cover to gain access to what you need. Gut I don't think they would make things that hard.
