Mysterious Popping or Leak in Kitchen Drain (Basement)
Hi, have an odd situation that's driving me nuts--wondered if anyone has seen anything similar.
When running the dishwasher, or at times when running the kitchen sink, a dripping is heard near/around the drain pipe between the 1st level/basement floor. It's almost more of a popping noise, but the timing is indicative of a water drip--the hollow spacing between the floor must amplify?
We had our basement finished last winter/spring, and a drain pipe leak was fixed (or so I thought) in this same area. In fact, even after everything was finished, a month later, the plumber and the contractor cut into the ceiling (at no charge), and investigated while the dishwasher/sink drained. They ran a video scope down along the pipe as well, and could not detect any moisture or evidence of a leak.
They didn't have much of an explanation for this, but felt there were some water temperature swings causing it (it is more pronounced when draining very hot water).
Any thoughts or ideas, or experiences with similar issues? Any help much appreciated.
Jon
