redoing stall shower

We are redoing a stall shower in my home and I had a question. We had planned on using a pre made wall and base set up, but based on the dimensions of our space this will not work. We now plan on tiling the shower stall completely. My contractor said that we would need a lead or acrylic pan. Is this necessary if the whole shower will be tiled.

you must have a shower pan installed. they have vynil that is used for this purpose. usually its a good idea to replace the drain if not the trap as well at this time especially if the trap is cast iron. you could also special order a premade acrylic pan and for go a couple steps and just tile the walls
