Standing water in dishwasher

I have 2" of water left in my dishwasher after the cycle ends. I just replaced the garbage disposal and wondering if this connected to my problem???

You must bring the hose as high as you can under the kitchen sink then connect it to your disposal, or you will get water back into the dishwasher every time you use the sink.

You must also remember to knock the plug out of the disposal, or your dishwasher will not drain

if what plumbingods recommended doesnt do the trick you may need a new pump for your dishwasher

plumbinggods is probably right, but if not, try this before worrying about pump replacement.

in the bottom of dishwasher there will be a grate. remove it (two screws) and pull out and clean it and the guard that may be there. While you have those two pieces out, reach in and feel around for any debris that may be caught in the sump area and remove it. sometimes larger pieces of food or whatever can get in there and plug the drain into the impeller, keeping the water from draining through.

Another thing to consider is broken glass wedged in the impeller. Have you had a broken glass lately? All the above suggestions should be checked out, too, especially the location of the discharge hose.
