clogged shower drain

Hi,

My freestanding shower drain is completely plugged up. Water will not drain at all. I have tried draino and some other products to no avail. Water is sitting in the drain all the way at the top and will not drain at all. Today I bought a snake and cant get the snake to go down more than 6-12 inches. It's like it hits the bottom of the pipe and wont bend to follow the pipe. I'm assuming there is some sort of p-trap under the shower. When I try to force the snake down, it just bends on itself and doesn't get anywhere.

Any thoughts as to what could be happening?? Any help much appreciated!!

-also, no other drains or toilets seems to be affected. I also tried baking soda and vinegar and it seemed to make it worse (went from a slow drain to completely stuck).

think about it for a second; 2000 year old mummy's still have hair, you think a drain cleaner will get rid of a hair clog without eating a hole in your pipe at the same time? i dont think so. quit spending money of smoke and mirror gadgets. the hardest part of opening this drain is going to be getting the snake through the p-trap. either have patience or call a professional

i usually use a machine that turns while i try to force the cable to traverse the u turn and 90. with a hand operated device it is much harder and takes a bit of finesse

Hire a pro and watch. Next time you should be able to do it yourself.
