tub spout problem from jko25

I recently moved in to my place and each time I turn on the water diverter from the bathtub spout to the shower head, the water preasure would push/shoot the spout from the wall. Looking under the spout, I notice that there are two holes for screws but there are no screw attached. What can I do to fix this problem.

Thanks,

I would have to say a spout replacement is most likely the best answer here. Some spouts screw right off from the piping coming out of the wall. Some have o'rings with set screws holding them on. Moen has slip on spouts with the set screws.

If the spout is in good condition and is just missing two set screws you could probably replace those (make sure they are stainless steel).you'd want to examine the threading and make sure it's not damaged.

Take the spout with you to the hardware store and let someone match the size for you. It's probably machine thread maybe 8-32 or 10-32 10-24 but these days it might even be metric.
