Mold in shower tile grout.

I am regrouting our shower and currently have a minor mold problem in the current grout. When I remove the old grout what is the best way to pretreat the grout line to kill any mold that may be hiding there?

A few things that could be a problem here:

1. Improper installation or no installation of a preslope under the shower pan liner - allows water to sit after going through grout and tile. (Shower floor)

2. Tile set on drywall in the shower

3. Improper bathroom ventilation

1 & 2 require the shower to be torn out

I would remove all the grout, allow to completely dry for a couple days, then regrout following the manufacturers instructions.

I would treat the area with moldex or equivalent after you scrape out the grout, and allow to dry thoroughly. I use hair dryer to ensure it is VERY dry.
