Under my kitchen sink, I have a brass waste line from the disposer on down. It started dripping a couple weeks ago and every time I touch it, it seems to get worse. Currently duct tape and a bucket are keeping things under control but that won't last. I could use some pointers on a strategy. On the top, I have a KitchenAid KWI 200 disposer that works fine, but is old enough that the two places I tried don't have parts, and I do not have the manual. On the bottom is a massive brass trap and 2" drain/vent that I don't want to touch. In between I have about a 6" horizontal brass piece from the disposer that has a crimp from over-tightening the slip joint and a vertical 90 degree brass piece that is slightly larger than the standard 7" piece at my home center, and has a crack from over-tightening. The latter has standard slip joints, so could be replaced easily if I could find something that size. The "equivalent" piece at my home center is 1/4" shorter in both directions so can not work. Hey, the slip-joints no longer drip :-( . - Does anyone familiar with these disposers know how to get the waste pipe off and whether it is replaceable without replacing any parts or gaskets? - should I just cut down the crimped horizontal piece, hope there's no rack, and add a small adapter with slip joints or is that unlikely to succeed? - My home center doesn't have brass pipes. There's no problem mixing chromed brass with plain brass, is there? - Alternately, is PVC likely to work well if I just replace those two small sections? - Without parts or gaskets, am I likely to be able to replace the brass outlet from the disposer with a PVC one, or is that unlikely to succeed? Hi there ! Because of my inattentive behavior, I experimented several floodings in my kitchen. I wish to install an overflow system on my two bowls stainless kitchen sink. Alas, I didn't find anything available for that purpose... The sink has no overflow communication between the two bowls i.e. they are at the same level so the water cannot overflow from one to the other. I wish I could find something similar to european sinks which all have overflow. Any suggestions ? Many thanks in advance for any reply!
