Kitchen faucet handle

I have an old Moen (14462-22) single handle kitchen faucet. I took the handle and cap (two separate pieces, but married) off to look at a leak. I tried to put the handle back on, but it separated from the cap. This looks very simple to put back together, but no matter how I try to put it back together, it will not fit down over the cartridge.

Anyone know how this silly thing fits together?

The model number you left doesn't show as a valid number.
Can you shoot us a picture ?

Camera is out of batteries. I may have misread the number. First number might be a slash, not a one. Try 4462 - 22.

Thanks.

Okay. I got the handle into the cap and put the screw in. Now, when I lift up the handle, it won't go back down again. Do I need to adjust the screw? I'm baffled as to why this turned so complicated.
