Kohler Faucet Replace Valve Stem

Hello,

After many years the valve stem is leaking and needs to be serviced. When disassembling the handle, the escheon is not going to allow me to remove the valve from the top ( the washer is blocked by the escheon). Is this correct? See below? From the bottom the nut holding the valve appears rusted. I have two options one is to dremel the nut and the other is to keep trying at it?

Thanks

This is an older thread and was missed somehow... Let us know if you still need assistance....

The escutcheon should unscrew so the cartridge can be removed..
