Kitchen installer messed up the plumbing

I had a new kitchen installed and the company plumber hooked up the sink and dishwasher drain, with a 1/4 inch slope on the horizontal section of the drain, but going the wrong way!

Rather than call these guys back, I would like to cut an inch or 2 out where the red lines are, enlarge the hole in the cupboard wall and raise the drain about 1.5 inches.

Is there a minimum distance that should be between the sink and the P Trap?
Will a shorter sink drain to P trap cause other issues?

Thank you,

Is it possible to give us a second picture with a little wider shot so we can see the trap ?

Change out the strainer on the sink to a metal one from the cheap plastic and you will gain sufficient clearance without cutting any ABS. Metal strainers do not have that "Y" shape and have a straight tailpipe that starts close to the bottom of the sink allowing you to push everything up.

Looks like he also used a glued on trap on one side.
Going to be a messy job to just clean it out when it plugs up.

Thank you for the stainless strainer tip. That should do the job. The horizontal section runs about 3 feet, so it should have min 3/4 inch slope (1/4" per foot I believe?).

I am guessing the thinking with the glued dishwasher entry is he could in theory run a snake via the dishwasher hose entry or from the screw off cap at the bottom of the P Trap.
But feeding from the bottom would not allow you to run the water while running a snake through the drain.
