Moen positemp valve replacement- now knocking

I replaced a Moen positemp shower valve last week and picked up an immediate knocking in the pipes. I have replaced many valves likes this before with out any problem (except the pulling and yanking everyone experiences). The knocking sounds (through the drywall) like it was at the valve or close to it. I shut off the main again and drained the whole house and then recharged it. No change. I then cut out the drywall in the adjoining bathroom wall behind the shower valve wall to check for loose pipes. Everything was tight all the way to the floor. The knocking is still loudest at the valve which vibrates when the water is shut off. Anyone experience something like this before? Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forums...

I would change the cartridge first... The aftermarket positemps are not all that great and the balance spool can be defective right out the box...

Get a genuine moen part if you can afford it...

Or try a new cartridge from where you bought the one you replaced...
