Dear member I just done my basement bath fitting and I use new American standard faucet, and I used all pex pip1/2 inch and copper nipple in to tub spout. when I fill the tub a noticeable small amount of water also comes out of the shower at the same time. This problem did not occur with the first floor tub and faucet which is install by the builder. I’m using a America standard shower faucet from a big box store. The America standard recommendations are tub outlet at 4 inch high, faucet at 22 (recommended is 18" from tub spout to faucet), and shower head at 72 to 79 inches. My settings are at 6, 25, 79 from tub top surface When I turn ¼ turn cold water comes out of the tub spout and nothing out of the shower head as expected. When I turn ½ turn thus adding hot water and more water flow then after about 1 seconds a good trickle comes out of the shower head. The pull up diverter is all the way down and works the shower as expected when pulled up. If I remove the tub spout and have only the tub nipple alone the problem still occurs and there is good flow of water coming out of the nipple likely meaning that the diverter not the culprit. Could this really be a problem with my water having too much pressure in my house? If so, then why did this not happen with the first floor tub and faucet? I also service my new faucet and check the all main faucet assembly and rings, and reassemble it back and try the water again but , nothing change, so tell me or suggest me what should I do Thanks

Hi! So as an opener, I have to say I don't know much about plumbing at all. My dad's shower has two handles (one for hot water, one for cold), and each one had a different problem. The hot water leaked, and the cold water wouldn't turn on at all. I replaced the washers in both, and now the hot water doesn't leak anymore. I tried to figure out what was wrong with the cold water, but all I could see was that the little metal washer (it looks like a staple, you can see it in my second photo) between the stem and the retainer nut was falling off. So I tried to put it back, and for a moment, it seemed to be fixed, but then when I messed with it a little more, it began to turn endlessly. That is, the handle turns around 360 degrees, never stopping, and the water never shuts off. The stem does not seem to be stripped. I can see it turn when the handle turns. However, I feel like something inside the cartridge is wrong. It turns to a certain point, then seems to encounter some resistance, then continues to turn endlessly. I can't find anything on the internet that explains exactly what is inside the cartridge, or how it works, or how to take it apart further. I'm sure I'll just have to replace the cartridge, but I'm annoyed that I can't find information on what's wrong or figure out how it works, exactly. Does anyone have a link that explains it, or does anyone know what's wrong? Thanks!! -Jessica P.S. Please ignore the long screw sticking out at the rubber washer end. I know that's weird, but I lost the screw that fit correctly, and it doesn't seem to make a difference on the other handle.
