Hot water tap won't stop turning/turn off; can't figure out how to remove tap.
Hey y'all,
So my hot water tap won't stop turning or turn off, so I've cut off the hot water to my apartment. By searching previous threads and a little googling, I think my problem might be that the stem is stripped - and this doesn't seem like the most complicated problem, so I'd like to give it a go myself instead of calling a plumber.
Problem is, I'm stuck on step one! I can't seem to figure out how to remove the handle. If any of you have advice on this or any other matter, I would greatly appreciate it. I've included a picture of the handle here: imgur: the simple image sharer
Somewhat fortunately, the same type of handle in my shower is actually loose. If it'll help anyone figure out how to remove the handle from my sink, I've included a picture of it here: imgur: the simple image sharer
I figure I'll probably fix that one while I'm at it too. Cheers all!

Alright, I'm realizing now that this process might take a while. Does anybody have any advice on how to turn the faucet off, so that I can turn the hot water back on for everything else?

I fixed it! Turns out there's a little retaining nut in the handle that required a lever to remove. After that, it was a simple matter of removing the spindle and replacing it with a new tap.

Well, the new stem worked great for about two days; now it requires you to turn the handle to extreme lengths to turn off the hot water - and even then, it drips a little. Tried replacing it with another stem, and it's the same problem! Anyone got any suggestions?

If you changed the washers did you also change the seats?
