Installing vessel sink and drain assembly

First time installing this from an all new parts perspective.

I have a flat rectangle vessel sink and this Kraus PU-10SN Satin Nickel Pop-Up Drain Assembly - Less Overflow drain. No drain installation instructions are available with the product or online. According to their Product Questions tab, no plumbers putty is needed. Should I still use it?

For the vessel sink, what type of silicone is best to use on the bottom of the sink? Would I also use the same silicone caulking on the outside edge once it is installed?

The installation instuctions indicate the pop up drain assembly comes with a rubber gasket that is used in place of plumbers putty. Use an adhesive caulk under the rim of the sink to hold it still once installed. The drain assembly will also help to steady it.

Under the rim of the sink would mean in this case the silicone would be applied on top of the "concave (rubber) washer"?

No, install the drain assembly with the supplied rubber washer.

I assume by your description of "flat vessel" is that it is not a full vessel and that part of it sits on the counter itself. Therefore,...

The sink vessel itself, needs to be secured to the counter top and sealed against water on the counter top seeping to underneath the sink. That is where you need to apply the sealant.

Ok, makes sense.

From the p trap to the drain tail piece I need a 12" extension.

Is this thicker 17 gauge, available after a week from Keeney Mfg. Co. 12-in Brass Slip Joint Extension Tube at Lowes.com the correct piece? The title seems correct but the description and product image suggest a tailpiece..

I've also found this LASCO 03-2639 however the description says satin finish, which seems rare. Could this have been a typo?

What's a reasonable price for 17 gauge thickness? Is it worth the extra cost from 22 gauge?

I usually adjust the p trap and add additional length to the throat that goes to the trap adapter rather than trying to extend the tail piece. PVC is cheap, get a coupler and add your specific length to the current set up.

Regarding the type of adhesive securing the vessel sink to the counter, would this be sufficient? Shop GE 2.8-oz Clear Silicone Kitchen and Bathroom Caulk at Lowes.com
