Moen Shower/tub Faucet issue

I have a newly installed Moen Positemp faucet in my bath. The problem is that the faucet "spits" water ever so often.
It appears that it is almost like a release valve once pressure builds up.

I have replaced the cartridge once, with no change.

Any ideas?

Where is the water spitting from? If it's coming out the spout it sounds like there might be air in the line.

Yes. It's the spout of the tub. It can go hours without a drop, then a spritz of water.

So it's spraying water when it's not being used and in the off position?

Correct. Water flow is off (handle pushed all the way in), and water (for the most part) does not come out of the spout.
Every so often, water releases out of the spout - not drips, but flows for a second or two.

The diverter is down. This is why the water spits out of the tub faucet, and not the shower head
