recaulking shower base ...

The caulk between the shower base and tile wall is showing it's age. Can I just scrape/cut off the old and redo or is there more to the process than I imagine? If traces of the old silicone remain, will the new adhere properly?
thnx

The main thing is to make sure it's both clean and dry. There are some that say caulk won't adhere to old caulk but I've never had any issues providing the old caulk is well adhered and clean.

Thank you Mark ... once I remove as much of the old caulk as I can, I will wash with Javex/Javel (chlorine) allow to dry, rewash with alcohol and then apply fresh caulk. Once again, thnx

It takes longer for the crack to dry out than many think. Often running a heat gun or hair dryer across the joint will speed up the drying process. Any moisture that is left behind the caulk can cause the caulking to fail.
