What part are you trying to remove? It looks like the handle was ripped/broken off.

If you grab the sleeve protruding you should be able to either just pull it out or you'll have to turn it counter clockwise to unscrew it. Once it's removed you'll see a big hex which you can unscrew to remove the cartridge. Just make sure to turn the water supply off first.

Ok I have to turn it counter clockwise then. I just wasn't sure and didn't want to force it. I'm having a lot of trouble turning it tho

Do you have any tips on how I can get that off? I tried putting some wd40 on the back and using a pipe wrench but it still won't turn. I don't want to force it too much.

You need to use a belt wrapped over your hand to form a strap wrench. Only the cone part will unscrew, as I believe the longer sleeve will only turn and not unscrew.

Sometimes they don't unscrew. It should but sometimes they don't. They are made of thin, cheap metal and the large diameter thread can really grab if they corrode or are clogged with mineral deposits. At this point it comes off or you replace the entire faucet. You've already broken the bit where the handle mounts so the sleeve has to come off to replace the cartridge or the faucet needs to be replaced. You don't have much to loose at this point.

Yeah I plan on replacing it anyway. So does this mean I now need to replace the 4 way part that the supply lines run into behind the wall ?( sorry I don't know what it's called, plumbing is not really my thing)

Yes, you need to replace that 4-way thing which is the valve body. So, at this point you'll be shopping for a complete faucet. Will you be saving the shower surround? If so you'll want to pick a single handle model but if you are re-doing the surround you can pick about anything you want.
