Question Old single knob shower won't turn on

My basement shower will not turn on. It is a single knob shower, where the knob pulls out to turn the water on and turns left/right to adjust temp. The knob will not pull out any more. It's been about two years since it was last used. The shower kit is a cheap Delta type brand, and Id like to replace the whole thing.

Do you think the cylinder behind the shower unit needs to be replaced too? Is there anything additional besides the shower kit that I should purchase?

Thanks!

Probably just need to replace the cartridge. If you have access from behind and can solder then you may want to replace with a moen brand. These moens are a good economical choice..

I dont know of a delta that pulls out to turn on. It could be IDK. I know the old PF's pulled out and was an avante cartridge...
