"peep" from toilet inlet valve when sink cold water is turned off .

(I noticed this a few days ago, but it could have been happening for a while)

When I turn off the water in the bathroom faucet (single handled)-especially when it is turned to cold water, and turned off quickly, I heard a single "peep"(like a canary). I determined that it was coming from the top of the fill tower inside the toilet tank (American Standard Champion 4 ).
The toilet is next to the sink, and I'm guessing that the supply lines are set up so that the supply to the toilet is branched off ahead of supply to the faucet.
If I had to guess, could the cause be something like water hammer in the toilet valve? { Then I decided to ask here, rather than trust my guess!}

While noticeable, the sound is only a minor annoyance, and there are no leaks, but is it something that could lead to a problem in the future?
Any insight and or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Do you happen to have Flood Safe stainless steel hose supplying the toilet?

My guess is a worn seal in the top of the fill valve. When it gets really bad it can sound like a fog horn.

Thanks for the replies, gentlemen.
Chandler: no "Flood Safe" hoses-just regular braided hose, with an old style shutoff (not quarter turn) valve.

Keith:I checked and cleaned (or so I thought) the seal. It looked okay.

Thanks again.

Update (I could have sworn that I already posted this-last month! I guess that you need to hit the "post quick reply" button...duh!!)

I removed and re-cleaned the seal-both sides this time, gave it, and the fill valve, a good cleaning/rinsing, replaced the seal, and no more "peep".
Thanks again.
