Question Garbage Disposals: Distance from sink to outlet pipe always above ~14cm?

Hello.

Is it usual, that the distance between Top Edge (or more exact under the sink) and the middle of the outlet pipe is more than 14cm?

Here is a double sink. A big and a small one.
See the attached picture:

There is a space saving drain system with a bridge between the sinks.
I want to install the device under the small sink.
I need a fall from the small sink to the bigger main sink.

The Pipe to the trap at the main sink is ~14cm lower than the undersite of the small sink.

If the Distance at the Disposal has more than ~14cm, there is a rise to the main sink.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums..

I assume you are not in the =USA... This is a US based site..

Your strainers alone are different from what we use here. We also use tailpieces off the strainers thats drop everything even lower to the trap, then exits the wall..

It would be difficult to tell you what to do unless you configure with US parts...

But I can tell you as a plumber of 30 years you should just forget about a garbage disposal. They are more trouble then good, and IMO food should not be discarded down the drain and taxing the sewer systems...

Start a compost pile if needed, or dispose of scrapes in the trash...

Yes, but here are garbage disposals not usual.
Users here are "outlaws" ;-) .

If there are different height (distance between flange and top outlet of the device) devices, I could reach a fall.
Therefore the question in a foreign board.

This bent strainers are a part of modern pipe kits to save useful space under the sink.

If there are no Garbage Disposals with high outlet (short distance from sink to waste water outlet of the device) exist, then I could perhaps connect two 87░ HT elbow pipes direct at the main sink strainer.
This could result in a lowering of the T-tube from the strainer (of the left big main sink) to the trap.

Currently is threatening every citizen the compost bin.
Even citizens with compost must then pay the compost bin. And not all people have the ability for a compost pile. I think, more ore many citizens live in tenements.
The municipalities have the free choice to make the compost bin for duty.
But they are now forced (from the government) to make the compost bin for duty, if the proportion of biodegradable waste in residual waste is too high.

I had remind the chairman of the Pirate Party in this district of Garbage Disposals. He replied that he did not think of, but considers it a good idea. He wants to forward my email to all councilors.
These devices are here known, but only from (US) films and series.
Therefore, he had not thought of it.

Compost bins are more environmentally unfriendly as garbage disposals.

These tonnes will be collected by diesel trucks.
The organic waste is repeatedly (I think 10 month) shifted with diesel trucks (to ventilate).
It seems, they produce more CO▓ and methane as in wastewater treatment plants.
Sewage treatment plants could add a biogas reactor.

Your trap is too high to reasonably install a disposer. There are two ways to discharge a disposer:
Disposer elbow (which is preferred) or side discharge (not good). I don't see either one working.

It might be easier to just overthrow the government. Just kidding and no offense.

@ lawrosa

Germany.

@ Handyone

The trap is actual very low.
Even under the waste water "hole" in the wall.

This strainers has advantages. Plenty of space under the sink.
In the right cabinet is full of space.
The continuous-flow water heater is under the trap.
The only "unpleasant" is currently the long "pop out" flex pipe.

I'm looking for a creative DIY way :-) .
I had specifically googled for a "DIY bulletin board" ;-) .

What do you mean with the "two ways"?

Here's a couple of pictures. One picture is a kitchen I did with a standard disposer elbow. The other picture is Insinkerator instructions showing the option of a straight (horizontal) discharge.
The Insinkerator shown is Evolution series with anti-vibration, but the principal is the same for any disposer.
I would consider Lawrosa's advice though and abandon the idea of a disposer.

Why give up?
Basically not a good idea?
Is that an aversion to such equipment, or specialized technical opinion?
Installation is fundamentally possible.
For example, so:
http://www.nettally.com/palmk/DoubleSinkDrain.jpg
Two traps and a Y-piece HT pipe.
Everything available here.
HT pipes are available in many forms and angles.

Here it's all about the installation on the basis of the existing pipe system.

Currently there are flies, stench, etc. usual.
Despite compost pile. It will not put every object immediately into the garden.
And there is often only a stinking sack on the terrace, before being emptied into the Kompst.
