New Shower Diverter Stem Leaking

I recently replaced my stems on my 3 handle Kohler shower faucet. The diverter stem, however, is leaking water out the stem itself...not around the perimeter at the threads.

What is the culprit and how do I correct it?

Thanks for any help that you can be.

Nicholas

If its the stem and its a cartridge type , then its internal to the cart..

Remove the cart and pull the stem clip. you can slide the stem out of the body and inspect the O ring that acts as the packing...
