I broke my toilet flush :(

I read this:
http://www.doityourself.com/forum/to...ing-broke.html

and I have a very similar problem.

The problem with mine is though although the chain is intact the part is covers up is ruined. The chain yanks it upwards and it stays above and the water constantly drains till I put it back by hand. Any ideas how to fix?

Are you talking about the flapper ? That's an easily replaced part in most toilets.

Yeah the flapper is not connected to the toilet.

They age with use and the chlorine in the water and the little tabs that form a hinge rot off.

Turn the water off, unsnap the flapper and take it to the store with you for a visual match up.
