Hairline cracks in 32 years old fiberglass bathtub

Hi all,

During clean up of this bathtub, there are multiple hairline cracks in 32 year old fiberglass bathtub. How do I know those cracks do not leak the water underneath of bathtub. Is there way to check it out? Please advise how do I repair the cracks or replace bathtub.

Thanks!

Most times they are just superficial cracks in the top coat and do not leak all the way through. They make fiberglass repair kits, ones for white tubs are usually in stock at the box stores, you may have to order a biscuit of almond color kit.

Czizzi,

There are 2 cracks that similar to car windshield cracks, and another one I can see the hairline crack in the top coat.

After moving in, I will stop by at HD to search repair kit.

Thanks!

Look in the bath tub isle at those little hanging wire spring clip places where they just hang a related item at the junction of two shelf units. I don't thing they have a "spot" for them other than on those impulse racks.

Prep is very important in order to get a decent looking and long lasting job so make sure the tub is good and clean along with all the other prep listed on the repair kit.
