Need Help with finding different pop-up drain mechanism
We are re-doing a bathroom and have found from past experience that the pop drains where the rod is behind the faucet can be cumbersome. There's just usually isn't enough room to fit one's hand behind there to comfortably pull up and down.
There are only a couple of faucets we have found where the mechanism for the pop up drain are either beside the faucet or a ball/handle on top of the faucet neck. How do I find more bathroom faucets (more options) where the rod/pull mechanism is NOT behind the faucet? It is the most common style but I haven't been able to put a search query into google or a home depot website to find exactly what I want. Am I missing some descriptors for this?
Can anyone help? It's frustrating knowing exactly what I want but not being able to describe it accurately into the omniscient google to get the correct results.

Welcome!
Yeah, I don't see a search for this type of thing happening.
You have already found a few faucets with the rod going straight up, that's good.
I recommend you go to a Ferguson supply store or other professional plumbing suppliers that have showrooms.
Another option is to go to a website for top manufacturers like Moen or Delta and look through their collections.

I just went to the Lowes website, and they seem to have quite a lot with the pull on top. Looks like it depends on the style tho. Don't know what style you're looking for.

I recently replaced a couple of bath faucets for a couple in an older home. The china sinks had only a tiny hole for the pop up lever and it was centered right in line with the valve cutouts. The faucets they bought at first had the pop up farther back behind the faucet and it wouldn't work with the small hole. I just had to go to the supplier and look at the samples, because there was no way to tell online which would work. The pictures are usually from the wrong angle, and if they have a link to the cut sheet it usually shows the middle hole being same size as the outer two whether it needs to be or not.

Thank you for replying. Sorry I should have specified the faucet style: center faucet with one handle.
If you look at this design, one can clearly see the pull up mechanism for the pop-up drain in on top of the faucet itself. It looks very easy to access, however it is on a spread design and we want a single faucet.
Pull-on top op-up drain
I don't know the exact words I should be entering in for a search. Even when I do search, the pictures donn't always show where the pop-up mechanism would be located. The next poster told me to look at the spec sheet, and though this is logical, this is something I was hoping to avoid as it can be quite time consuming. How can I get result back for a center faucet with one handle and a pop-up drain mechanism on top, instead of behind, the faucet.
Whoooooo. I'm getting frustrated just typing that.

LP,
You got three good answers. Look on-line or at professional stores for what is called "collections", styles of faucets offered by leading manufacturers.
I've installed these for 15 years or so and there is no search term that will work for a pop up rod position. It's like searching a "thingy".
Edit/add: You could purchase a new faucet with no pop-up rod/lever, these are widely available.
You would change your existing drain to a spring loaded pop–up
Do a search for spring loaded pop–up drain.
