Setting a new Toilet - Wax Ring or Other ?

I am installing a new American Standard Concealed trap Cadet 3 toilet on tile floor. The old toilet used a wax ring. Should I use a wax ring for the new toilet or one of the other new designs? If new, which type polyurethane, rubber, shape etc. ?

I just installed a new stool last weekend and I'm still in the wax ring school of thought.

Did you use the type with the rubber flange or just plain wax ring.

It sounds like stickshift used the wax ring. I would certainly take a chance on the rubber rings. If you decide to try it, please tell us the results.

I took a chance last week and installed one with one of these DANCO Perfect Seal Toilet Wax Ring-10718X - The Home Depot.

It is still a wax ring, but it uses a bellows to contain things, AND the perimeter ring holds those stupid flange bolts vertically.

I agree with Pulpo. Try the new type. On my next toilet set I'm going to try the polyurethane.
