Suddenly reduced water flow on hot side of sink?

Earlier this evening I was working on getting dinner tonight, I went to wash something out in the sink. I turned on the hot side, I may have been putting a little weight on the handle, but it turned on normally, then the handle almost felt like it pushed down a little and the flow went to maybe 1/4 of what it normally is.

Cold side still works fine, and the other sinks in the house work fine, so it must be something with the sink, but what? I thought maybe something broke or moved inside the handle but I took it off and it at least appears OK. What do I need to look for?

Does it have a rubber washer or a cartridge? It sounds like you damaged the cartridge, although I don't see how.

So the sink handle valve assembly is called a cartridge? Did not know that.

Can that be replaced without removing the faucet from the sink, by any chance?

The cartridge is part of the assembly & it can be replaced without removing the entire faucet. Look for some youtube videos. Shut the valves under the sink.

I forgot to post here but I went home from work the day after I posted this, turned on the hot faucet and it did the opposite of what it did before- started out with the low flow until about halfway then it was back to normal and it's been fine since. Confusing...
