Grout or caulk tub spaces

I just finished tiling my tub/shower area and ready to grout. To keep the tile off the tub ledge, I left a space of 1/8-1/4" between the bottom tile row and the tub ledge. Now, should I caulk that space or grout it first, then caulk after the grout has cured? The tub is acrylic, so I'm concerned whether it's ok to put grout in against an acrylic surface.
Thanks.

You should always caulk where the tile meets the tub [any type] in corners or where it intersects with the ceiling.

Thank you for the timely replies!
I just finished grouting and have this one gap between the tile and tub (vertical gap just outside the tub in the photo), too wide for caulking (1/2-3/4"). Without using grout, what's the best way to fill that in?
Thanks again.

Gap between tile and tub should be caulked. I don't see a gap as wide as you're describing.

The gap should have been addressed by cutting the tile appropriately during the install. It is to be dealt with with caulk. Mask off the area, pull a thick bead of caulk and then pull the tape. Return for a second tape and fill of caulk if needed later should the first not meet your approval.
