Need help with a shower, my hot water disappeared?!?!

Hello All!

Here is the story:
We have scalding hot water everywhere in the house but in the bathtub/shower.

There was hot water in there but we had a plumber change out the cartridge in the tub/shower faucet (a single handle moen I believe) because it would no longer turn all the way off... constantly dripped..

NOW: the water is cool to warm depending on the day

The sink next to the tub has hot water... it gets how water with the tub on or off, makes no difference...

Please help!

Ryan

You did not say what faucet you have so I cannot offer specifics but most have a anti scald feature. There should be an adjustment for how much hot water the faucet can deliver. You'll likely need to remove the knob and maybe escutcheon to get at the adustment.

I'll pull the knob off and take a look, maybe I'll post a pic.

escutcheon = trim plate

Most likely the adjustment will be under the handle. It is a limit gear that prevents the handle from turning too far.

Don't forget to caulk around the top of your escutcheon/trim plate to prevent water from running down the tile and getting behind the plate and into the wall.
