Question on installing mixet cartridge in shower faucet

hi,

Now that I have the cartridge, I have a question about the instructions:

http://www.brasscraft.com/PDF/Mixet%...structions.pdf

On page 3, #3, it says that I should "Push new stem assembly in place with twisting motion until brass ring comes in contact with valve body."

What brass ring, what valve body?

I've already seen 2 youtube videos about installing this cartridge,
and I did not see any mention of a brass ring or a valve body.

Are they trying to say the cartridge has to be pushed into the
pipe until it touches something in the pipe?

If so, then surely they mean the cartridge body,
not the valve body?

Confused.....

(ps: this is about my purchase of this item:
